 Creator:  Houston, Martha Lou
Publication:  Printed by the Walton-Forbes Co, Columbus, Ga,[1929]
Notes:  Includes reproduction of t.-p. of original edition: Official register of the land lottery drawn in 1827. The section of the state including these lands, Muscogee, Troup, Coweta, Lee and Carroll counties, was ceded by the Indian Springs treaty of Feb. 12, 1825, which was not ratified. The federal government and the state became involved in a controversy, which was adjusted at a conference, Nov. 15, 1827, when the U.S. agreed to pay the Creek Indians for the territory. cf. verso of 2nd prelim. leaf. "The value of this record from both the historical and the genealogical standpoints is readily discernible."
